Aaron Tippin

Martin City Tourism and Mayor Sam Howell announced on Friday that country music singer Aaron Tippin is set to perform in the city this fall.

The tourism commission voted in April to seek a $12,500 contract with Tippin for the city’s annual Red, White and Blue Days Festival in October. Tippin will be the headlining performer at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20. Admission is free.

Tippin has spent nearly 30 years in the country music scene. He signed with RCA, launching his career in 1990, and went on to create numerous top-charting hits.

His titles include songs like,  “You’ve Got to Stand for Something,” “Workin’ Man’s PhD” and others.

The city is providing free carnival rides during this year’s festival, the tourism commission reported.
