The Floyd County Public Library announced on Friday that it expanded its newspaper database.

The library added microfilmed copies of the former Floyd County Times newspapers that were provided by Big Sandy Community and Technical College. These newspapers were previously only available by visiting BSCTC and viewing the microfilmed copies.

The Floyd County Times newspaper was published in Floyd County from 1927 until 2018, when it was purchased by Appalachian Newspapers.

The library’s database now spans from 1930 to 2012 in former Floyd County Times editions, and the library also regularly updates copies of the Floyd County Chronicle and Times.

The newspaper database is part of the library’s Floyd County History Collection, which contains photographs, marriage records, oral histories and other documents, as well as links to local historical society documents.
