The Floyd County Sheriff’s Department reports that a man sought for the alleged Oct. 3 burglary of the BP gas station on Ky. 3 has been captured.
The department reports that deputies were investigating a stolen motorcycle complaint on Monday in Auxier and located Jonathon Endicott, who was wanted allegedly burglarizing the gas station on Oct. 3.
“Endicott, who is also a person of interest in today’s motorcycle theft case, ran from deputies in an attempt to elude capture but was caught after a short chase,” a statement from the department said.
Endicott was charged with felony theft by unlawful taking, second-degree fleeing/evading police and menacing. Officials report additional charges are also pending.
The department obtained video surveillance footage from the gas station that allegedly shows Endicott stealing items from the business. Sgt. Kevin Shepherd reported that the video shows Endicott trying a make a make-shift sled that he used to remove items from the store.
He allegedly stole about $8,000 in cash and coins from a vehicle on the property and then went inside the gas station and its adjoining cooler and stole about $2,000 worth of commercial food products.
