A Prestonsburg resident is facing felony charges after allegedly injuring another person with a machete.

Jime Guess, 55, of the Right Fork of Bull Creek in Prestonsburg, was arrested recently for first-degree assault, a felony, and third-degree criminal trespassing, a misdemeanor.

Kentucky State Police Trooper Brad Hamilton reports in the complaint warrant that on Oct. 24, Guess came to the alleged victim’s home, and “demanded him to pay him money and then struck him in the face causing minor injury.”

“In the process of a struggle (Guess) caused serious physical injury to the victim’s hand with a machete,” Hamilton reported.

Guess pleaded not guilty to the charges during his arraignment on Oct. 30. A preliminary hearing is scheduled to be held in the case next week.
