The Southeast Kentucky Chamber of Commerce hosted a grand opening celebration on Friday for Flawless Beauty, which opened this year in Prestonsburg.
The business is owned by Shirley Strong, a micropigmentation, or permanent cosmetics, specialist.
Strong is also the founder of a new cosmetic line, JakeLynn Cosmetics, which is sold exclusively by Flawless Beauty.
The business offers permanent eyebrows, permanent eyeliner, permanent lip tint, Cryoskin treatments, facials, dermal fillers, Botox and other cosmetic injectables, teeth whitening, spray tans, stretch mark lightening and other services.
“We just do a lot of stuff that women would love,” Strong said. “I try to think of everything that I would love as a woman and then I try to make sure that it happens for other women.”
Strong, a Knott County native, said she and her husband Richard, a native of Perry County, moved to Prestonsburg after an opportunity arose for her to open Flawless Beauty in the former Prestonsburg Post Office building, an historic building that was renovated last year.
“We love the closeness of the community,” Strong said about Prestonsburg. “We love the networking of the other businesses that love to network. It’s a close knit community and I love the people.”
She started doing permanent cosmetics three years ago when she worked at a salon.
“We offer a lot of aesthetic treatments here. So, we do permanent cosmetics, whether it’s your eyebrows, eyeliner, lip color, whatever, that you would want permanently put on your face,” she said. “A lot of women benefit, especially women that don’t have a lot of eyebrow to work with due to a medical condition or a medication they’re taking, they’ve lost their eyebrow hair. It gives them something back that chemo took.”
Strong said the business’ teeth whitening service takes about an hour. She said Flawless Beauty also offers fat loss treatments that can help people who can’t lose weight after dieting and exercise.
“It’s an amazing option for someone that has that stubborn fat that they cannot budge, even with diet and exercise,” Strong said. “It’s really beneficial to someone who just has that bulge that they want to get rid off.”
