The company that provides garbage collection in Floyd County is changing its routes this month.

On Monday, Waste Connections started providing information to customers about new route changes that will take effect on Oct. 21.

David Cooley, supervisor at Waste Management’s Garth transfer station in Martin, said the changes are taking place to make routes more efficient for customers and “economically feasible” for the company.

“The majority of the customers in Floyd County will not feel the impact of the re-route,” he said.

Garth transfer station Manager Jim Auxier said the changes impact seven truck routes that operate weekly in different areas of Floyd County.

“The biggest area that will be impacted is the Right Beaver area, like up in the Hueysville area, Rt. 7, Rt. 2029, places like that, but it’s mainly the side roads,” Auxier said.

Cooley encourages residents who have questions to contact the transfer station at, (606) 285-0033 between the hours of 7 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on week days.

The changes include:
