Several local agencies are hosting a “Mega Job Fair” in Prestonsburg this week.
The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 2, at the Wilkinson-Stumbo Convention Center at Jenny Wiley State Resort Park.
It’s being hosted by Big Sandy Community Action Program, Eastern Kentucky Concentrated Employment Program, Kentucky Career Center JobSight and the American Job Center.
Participating employers include Appalachian Regional Healthcare, Carter Road Coal Company, also known as United Coal, GDIT, Landmark of Elkhorn City, Pikeville Medical Center, Teleworks USA, Western Construction and others.
As part of this event, Addiction Recovery Care and AppalReD Legal Aid is offering a free expungement session. Those who take advantage of this service will get access to their criminal records from the Kentucky Department of Corrections and consultation with an attorney about the expungement process. Informational resources that will help attendees get a GED or receive help for substance abuse will also be available. Those interested in the expungement session should bring a photo ID to the job fair.
