A Floyd County man is facing felony charges for allegedly injecting a woman with drugs and sexually abusing her.
According to documents filed in Floyd District Court, Eric Roberts, 23, of Harold, is facing a felony count of first-degree assault and one count of third-degree sexual abuse.
Darrin Lawson of the Floyd County Sheriff’s Department reports in the arrest warrant that Roberts allegedly held a woman down and injected methamphetamine into her arms and “then proceeded to grab her” in a sexual manner.
The alleged incident occurred on June 22, the documents say.
Roberts was placed under a $5,000 cash bond and ordered to have no contact with the alleged victim in the case. It was referred to the grand jury for consideration last week.
His attorney, Public Advocate Keyara Moye filed a motion for bond reduction in the district court case on July 9, reporting that Roberts has “limited financial resources” and has been unable to post bond since his arrest. A hearing has been scheduled for July 12 on that request.
