P’burg man wins Publisher’s Clearing House prize

Danielle Lam and Howie Guja present the Publishers Clearing House “$5,000 a Week for Life” prize to Ricky Williams on Friday.

A Prestonsburg resident won the Publishers Clearing House “$5,000 a Week for Life” prize last week.

Danielle Lam and Howie Guja of the company’s “Prize Patrol” traveled to Prestonsburg to present the award to Ricky Williams Friday afternoon.

“Oh, God, bless. Oh, thank you. Thank you so much,” Williams told the prize patrol. “I didn’t know if this really happened to people or not.”

He lives with his daughter and four of his grandkids, PCH reported, so he will “put the money to good use.”

“I’m going to get out of debt, first thing,” Williams said. “Help my kids. Hopefully, live a longer, sweeter life. My. My. My.”

He also reported that he wants to buy a new truck.

“It really comes true,” Williams said, when Lam asked him what he’d like to say to others. “Believe me. I never thought it would ever happen, and I filled this out for years. But here it is. I done it.”

Williams, who reported that he recently retired, received a $50,000 check on Friday and will receive $5,000 a week for life.
