A pedestrian was killed Wednesday night on U.S. 23 in Stanville.
The Kentucky State Police reports that the agency received a 911 call at approximately 8:30 p.m. about a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle in the northbound lanes of U.S. 23 in the Stanville area.
Both lanes of the highway were closed for at least two hours as first responders investigated the crash.
The pedestrian, whose name was not released, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Floyd County Coroner’s office.
It is not known at this time if the pedestrian was attempting to cross the roadway or only walking on the road when struck by the vehicle, the KSP reported.
Other emergency agencies assisting at the scene were Betsy Layne Volunteer Fire Department and Lifeguard Ambulance.
