The Floyd County Sheriff’s Department is giving taxpayers more time to pay their property taxes this year.

The department reports that the 2019 property tax bills will be mailed to Floyd County property owners on Sept. 30.

“This year tax collections will be extended an extra month to allow our tax payers more time to pay plus to provide more time to pay before Christmas,” a statement from the department said.

In the past, collections for Floyd County property taxes usually begin in November. This year, however, taxpayers will receive a two percent discount is they pay their property taxes between Oct. 1 and Nov. 1 and they’ll pay the face amount of the bill if they pay it between Nov. 2 and Dec. 31.

Residents who don’t receive their tax bills by Oct. 7 should contact the sheriff’s department at, (606) 886-6711.
