Meredith Biel

Meredith Allen Biel, 85, of Langley, formerly of New York, widow of Dr. Paul Biel, died  Thursday, Aug. 29, 2019, at the Hazard Health and Rehabilitation Center, Hazard.

She was born in Magoffin County, Feb. 3, 1934, a daughter of the late Jesse and Dallis Shepherd Allen.

She worked as an RN for 30 years at the Southside Hospital, New York, and after returning to Kentucky, she was a store manager for the E.P. Grigsby Store, Martin.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Robert Otis Whitt; one daughter, Jessica Biel Farley Babylon; and one sister, Minnie Irizarry.

She is survived by one brother, Earl Allen, of Scarborough, Maine; two sisters, Lorraine Ratliff, of Clearwater, Fla., and Ida Miles, of Alta Monte, Fla.; three grandchildren, William Biel Farley, Rebecca Farley and Gregory Earl Biel Farley; and two great-grandchildren, Sophia Jessica Hotchkiss and Terrente Hotchkiss.

A memorial gathering was held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2019, at the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin. Arrangements were under the direction of the Hall Funeral Home of Martin.

Sharon Kaye Collins Forman, 63, of Bevinsville, died Saturday, Aug. 31, 2019.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Monday, Sept. 2, 2019, at the Wheelwright Freewill Baptist Church, Bypro. Burial followed at the Buckingham Cemetery, Bevinsville. Arrangements were under the direction of the Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home of Martin.

Thelma Fugate

Thelma Etta Fugate, 94, of Drift, died Friday, Aug. 30, 2019.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Monday, Sept. 2, 2019, at the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin. Burial followed at the Drift Cemetery, Drift.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Hall Funeral Home of Martin.

James Hall Jr.

James Kermit Hall Jr., 65, of Grethel, died Sunday, Sept. 1, 2019.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 5, 2019, at the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin. Burial will follow at the James Kermit Hall Cemetery, Grethel.

Visitation will continue on Wednesday, Sept. 4, at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of the Hall Funeral Home of Martin.

Sharon Hall

Sharon Irene Bailey Collins Hall, 69, of McDowell, died Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2019.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Sunday, Sept. 1, 2019, at the Little Rosa Old Regular Baptist Church. Burial followed at the Lucy Hall Cemetery, McDowell. Arrangements were under the direction of the Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home of Martin.

Verlie Hall

Verlie J. Hall, 95, of Clyde, Ohio, died Wednesday, Aug. 2019.

Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2019, at the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin. A prayer service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 5, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the W.J. Hall Cemetery, Grethel Arrangements are under the direction of the Hall Funeral Home of Martin.

Elva Prater

Elva Reed Prater, 77, of Hippo, died Monday, Sept. 2, 2019.

Memorial services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Hall Funeral Home of Martin.
