Goldie Marie Hunter 

Goldie Marie Hunter, 81, of Wellington, Ohio, died Sunday, July 14, 2019, at New Live Hospice Center, Lorain, Ohio.

Born Feb. 6, 1938, in Teaberry, she was the daughter of the late Garfield and Edna Hamilton. Goldie moved to the Wellington area in 1959. She worked for the Hinton POV Products Plant in Wellington and then for Forest City, where she retired.

She was a member of the Willington Freewill Baptist Church and enjoyed working in the garden, canning and her love and dedication to her family.

Survivors include her loving and devoted husband Ealies Hunter; her daughters Barb Hunter of Honaker and Doris Thomas of Acworth, Ga.; her son Jeff Hunter of Indian Land, S.C.; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; five great great-grandchildren and her sister Genive Shipley of Wellington.

She was preceded in death by two sons: Kelvine Andrew and Brian Lloyd and three brothers: Thomas, Ernest and Danny Hamilton.

Funeral services were held July 17 at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, Wellington, with burial following in the Penfield Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of Norton-Eastman Funeral Home of Wellington.

Elder Gary Wright

Elder Gary Wright, 85, husband of Imelda “Mel“ Bolen Wright of Prestonsburg, died Friday, Aug. 2, 2019, in the Highlands Regional Medical Center, Prestonsburg.

He was born July 31, 1934, in Prestonsburg, a son of the late Elder and Maggie Flanery Wright. He was barbershop owner and operator and a member of Irene Cole First Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife and his son Gary Michael (Linda) Wright of Prestonsburg; his brother, Ronald J. Wright of Prestonsburg; five sisters: Carol Sue (Dick) Watson of Pleasanton, Cal., Coleen Griffith, Peggy Hall, Sharon (George) May and Mary Lynne Wright, all of Prestonsburg; three grandchildren: Lee Anne Franklin, Tonia Burke and Johnathan Crider; numerous great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter Sandra Kaye Wright and two sisters: Teresa Kaye Wright and Brenda Marlene Crum.

Visitation will begin after 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 9, and after 10 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 10, until time of service at the Irene Cole Memorial First Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Aug. 10, at 1 p.m. at the church with Tom Biddle officiating. 

Burial will follow in the Gethsemane Gardens, Prestonsburg. 

Arrangements are under the direction of Hall Funeral Home of Martin.

Warner Willis Jr.

Warner Willis Jr., 92, of Prestonsburg, husband of Janice Ann Burke Willis, died Sunday, Aug. 4, 2019, at the Community Hospice Care Center, Ashland. 

He was born Dec. 29, 1926, in Petersburg, Ind., to the late Warner and Nancy Pauline Spradlin Willis. He was a U.S. Army Korean War Veteran, former commander of the VFW Prestonsburg, a member of the Auxier DAV and a retired truck driver.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Ethel Pauline “Polly” Willis Bradley of Prestonsburg; one step-son, Cooley Jarvis, of Crown City, Ohio; two step-daughters: Joyce Odette Tackett of Wittensville and Linda Tackett-Wright of Prestonsburg; two sisters: Ivanell Wells of Lexington and Peggy Morris of Stanford and five grandchildren: Charles Warner Trenton Bradley, Chance Edwin Bradley, Whitney Austin Bradley, Case Holden Bradley and Rimini-Ashton Bradley Merrick.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers: William “Bill” Willis, David Joe Willis and John Willis.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 8, at Hall Funeral Home.

Burial will follow in Gethsemane Gardens, Prestonsburg.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hall Funeral Home of Martin.

Burial will follow in the Cornett Family Cemetery, Hallie.
