Bobcats drop Homecoming Game to Patriots

BETSY LAYNE — Betsy Layne fell short in a bid to return to the win column during its Homecoming Game as determined Knott County Central prevailed 28-22 on Friday night.

The victory allowed Knott County Central to land in the win column for the first time in the 2019 high school football season.

With the loss, Betsy Layne dropped to 2-3.

Knott County Central improved to 1-4 with the win.

The Patriots prevailed after opening the season 0-4.

Betsy Layne amassed 299 yards of total offense in the short effort. Quarterback Chase Mims and running back Austin Tackett combined to lead the Bobcats. Through the air, Mims completed eight of 23 passes for 112 yards and one touchdown while throwing one interception. On the ground, Tackett rushed 13 times for 117 yards and one touchdown.

Contributing on the ground for the Bobcats, Mims rushed five times for 37 yards.

Three different Betsy Layne receivers hauled in two or more receptions. Dalton Hall led Betsy Layne in receiving, reeling in three receptions for 67 yards and one touchdown.

Skylar Adkins provided a lift on defensive for the Bobcats, returning a fumble 97 yards for a touchdown.

Curtis Robinette paced Betsy Layne defensively, recording 19 tackles. Paul Hall posted 14 tackles while Marcus Hall added 11 tackles for the Bobcats in the setback.
