BETSY LAYNE — Betsy Layne football fans will have an opportunity to catch the Bobcats on the gridiron later in the week. The Betsy Layne football program will hold its annual Blue and White Night on Friday.
The event will start at 5 p.m.
The Bobcats will be featured in a scrimmage at 6:30 p.m.
Tickets are a $3 flat rate with concessions.
Betsy Layne is poised to open the 2019 high school football season with back-to-back home games. The Bobcats are scheduled to host much-improved Sheldon Clark in a season opener on August 23.
Then, one week later on August 30, Betsy Layne is due to welcome in Morgan County for another home game.
Along with the matchups versus Sheldon Clark and Morgan County, Betsy Layne will entertain Magoffin County (Sept. 13), Knott Central (Sept. 20) and Fairview (Oct. 25) in other home games.
The Bobcats are scheduled to visit East Ridge (Sept. 6), Phelps (Sept. 27), Raceland (Oct. 11), Paintsville (Oct. 18) and Jenkins (Nov. 1) for away games.
Betsy Layne concluded the 2018 season 1-9. The Scotty McCoy-coached Bobcats beat Jenkins convincingly in their 2018 season finale. Betsy Layne dropped games to Sheldon Clark, Floyd Central, East Ridge, East Carter, Magoffin County, Shelby Valley, East Ridge, Leslie County, Casey County and Prestonsburg in 2018.
Following an alignment move from the Kentucky High School Athletic Association (KHSAA), Betsy Layne is dropping down from Class 2A to Class A. The Bobcats are poised to compete with former state finalists Fairview, Paintsville and Raceland in Class A District 6.
