DACE captures Floyd County A-Team title

Duff Allen Central Elementary captured the Floyd County A-Team Girls’ Basketball Championship on Wednesday, Oct. 30.

Duff Allen Central Elementary pulled away to defeat Betsy Layne Elementary 44-31 in the Floyd County A-Team Girls’ Basketball Championship Game on Wednesday, Oct. 30.

DACE captured the county title at familiar Allen Central High School.

Hannah Lewis led DACE to the championship win, scoring a team-high 16 points.

Summer Bell accompanied Lewis in double figures for DACE, adding 10 points.

Both Chelsea Johnson and Chloe Crase narrowly missed double figures for DACE, netting nine points apiece.

Kaylee Hall did not score but contributed for the Lady Rebels.

DACE carried a lead out of each quarter. The Rebels edged Betsy Layne 8-5 in the opening quarter then led 21-16 at halftime. Separating itself following the intermission period, DACE outscored Betsy Layne 12-3 in the third quarter.

Prior to competing in the county tournament, DACE wrapped up its second straight undefeated regular season. The same team captured the Floyd County B-Team title in 2018.

Karly Williams led Betsy Layne with a game-high 17 points. Williams was the only Betsy Layne player to reach double figures in the scoring column.

Jayden Jarrell (six points), Kayley Lee (three points), Jaden Pente (three points), Shyla Kidd (one point) and Christian Howell (one point) accounted for Betsy Layne’s additional scoring in the title game.
