Floyd Central’s season ended in the opening round of the Class 3A Football Playoffs as host Belfry pulled away to win 46-7 at CAM Stadium on Thursday night.
With the loss, Floyd Central concluded its campaign 3-8.
Belfry improved to 7-3 and advanced to the second round of the Class 3A Football Playoffs with the win.
The Pirates’ rushing attack proved to be too much for the Jaguars. Belfry moved ahead in the opening quarter and never allowed Floyd Central to push for a postseason win. Dominant Belfry led 39-0 at halftime.
Belfry thrived on the ground, rushing 31 times for 406 yards. Isaac Dixon and Shane Hensley rushed for 118 yards apiece for the Pirates. Dixon crossed the goal line for two rushing touchdowns while Hensley added one TD on the ground.
Along with Hensley, teammates Ben Bentley, Brett Coleman and Brenden Rash scored one rushing touchdown apiece for the Pirates.
Floyd Central was limited to 147 yards of total offense in the season-ending loss. The Jaguars rushed 34 times for 118 yards and one touchdown in the setback.
Gavin Martin led Floyd Central on the ground, rushing 10 times for 65 yards and the Jaguars’ lone touchdown.
Following Martin on the ground for the Jaguars, Dalton Boyd rushed 11 times for 28 yards.
Finishing behind Boyd in Floyd Central’s rushing column, Bryce Thacker rushed five times for 14 yards.
Through the air for Floyd Central, quarterback Caleb Hager completed four of nine passes for 29 yards.
Noah Marcum led Floyd Central in receiving, reeling in two receptions for 14 yards.
Thacker led the Jaguars defensively, recording eight tackles. Marcum posted five tackles, one of which went for a loss. Finishing third in the Floyd Central defensive column, Jordan Akers contributed four tackles.
