Lady Bobcats ousted by Pike Central

Betsy Layne’s Madison Hamilton goes up for a kill attempt against Pike Central in action Tuesday evening in the opening round of the 15th Region Tournament at East Ridge.

LICK CREEK — Betsy Layne fell behind early and couldn’t make up for its slow start as 60th District champion Pike Central pulled away to win 3-0 in the 15th Region County Volleyball Tournament at East Ridge High School on Tuesday.

With the loss, Betsy Layne ended its season 17-19.

Pike Central improved to 21-9 with the win.

Productive Pike Central won 25-10, 25-19, 25-15 over the Ladycats.

Betsy Layne, which advanced to the 15th Region Volleyball Tournament after finishing runner-up in the 58th District, showed improvement throughout the season. Dwayne Johnson concluded his first season as Betsy Layne head coach.

Pike Central moved on to meet Pikeville in the 15th Region Volleyball Tournament semifinals.
