LOUISA — Prestonsburg made some noise at the plate during its initial at-bat but couldn’t limit its opponent as host Lawrence County pulled away to win 18-1 in three innings in the 58th District Softball Tournament Semifinals on Monday.

With the loss, Prestonsburg ended its season 12-20.

Lawrence County improved to 25-9 with the win.

The Lady Bulldogs took control early, plating 13 runs in the bottom half of the first inning.

Allie Triplett started in the circle for Lawrence County and earned the pitching win. Triplett overcame a slow start to pitch well in the postseason high school softball matchup.

Prestonsburg starter Megan Music suffered the pitching loss.

Lawrence County outhit Prestonsburg 9-3. Savannah Wright led Lawrence County at the plate, finishing two for three with five RBIs.

Contributing at the plate for Lawrence County, Abby Fletcher and Lillian Kinser added three RBI and two RBIs, respectively.

Katelyn Bingham accounted for two of Prestonsburg’s three hits. Alison Campbell added the Lady Blackcats’ other hit.

Struggling defensively, Prestonsburg committed five errors in the season-ending loss.
