Prestonsburg advances to region title match

Prestonsburg’s Max Willoughby delivered a kick during the Blackcats’ match versus Belfry in the 15th Region Boys’ Soccer Tournament semifinals.

Dylan Moore recorded a hat trick to lead host Prestonsburg past Belfry 9-1 in the semifinals of the 15th Region Boys’ Soccer Tournament at Josh Francis Field/Blackcat Stadium on Tuesday.

With the win, Prestonsburg improved to 17-2-2 and advanced to the 15th Region boys’ soccer title match.

Along with Moore netting three goals, four other Prestonsburg players found the net. Grant Justice and Matt Burchett added two goals apiece for the Blackcats. Rounding out Prestonsburg’s individual scoring, Isaiah Collins and Kane Scarberry contributed one goal apiece.

Burchett and Collins dished out two assists each as Prestonsburg prevailed.  

Defensively for Prestonsburg, goalkeeper Jacob Martin allowed only one goal.

In the opening game of the 15th Region Boys’ Soccer Tournament, Lawrence County defeated Johnson Central 3-1.
