Betsy Layne pulled away to beat Lawrence County 3-1 in the semifinals of the 58th District Volleyball Tournament at the Prestonsburg Fieldhouse on Monday night.

With the win, Betsy Layne evened its record to 17-17, advanced to the 58th District title match and qualified for the 15th Region Volleyball Tournament.

Lawrence County ended its season 12-21 with the loss.

The Lady Cats won 25-9, 25-11, 20-25, 25-15 over Lawrence County in the district tournament match.

In the opening match of the 58th District Volleyball Tournament, Floyd Central blanked Prestonsburg 3-0 (25-16, 25-14, 25-12).

Betsy Layne was facing county rival Floyd Central in the 58th District Volleyball Tournament title match on Tuesday evening. Results from the Besty Layne-Floyd Central match were unavailable at press time.

Frontrunner Floyd Central rolled in the opening match of the 58th District Volleyball Tournament at the Fieldhouse on Monday, shutting out Prestonsburg 3-0.

With the win, back-to-back champion Floyd Central improved to 26-7, qualified for 15th Region Volleyball Tournament and advanced to the 58th District title match.

Prestonsburg ended its season 3-22 with the loss.

The Lady Jaguars won 25-16, 25-14, 25-12 over tournament host Prestonsburg.
