On Tuesday, Jan. 26, emergency personnel responded to a structure fire on Ky. 1428 in Martin, near Ice Plant Hollow. Due to the fire, the road was temporarily shut down to allow emergency personnel to extinguish the flames. According to Martin Fire Chief William Petry, the fire likely stemmed from a furnace which was located in the bottom part of structure. Petry said that he’d like to thank the Martin Fire Department, Maytown Fire Department, Martin City Police Department and the Floyd County Sheriff’s office for their assistance in fighting the fire.
