On July 6, the Floyd County Senior Citizens Centers celebrated their reopening after 14 months of being closed due to COVID-19. According to officials with the centers, the day was a fun-filled one, which included good food, games, laughter and other activities. “The best part of the day for the Seniors was that they were able to fellowship with their friends,  something they haven't been able to do for the past year,” the centers said in a statement. A total of 120 Seniors came out to celebrate the reopening of the Centers.  Trudy Gabbard, director of the Floyd County Senior Citizens would like to invite all seniors to come out and visit one of the county’s centers. The centers at Betsy Layne, Martin, McDowell, Mud Creek and Wheelwright are opened from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. The Prestonsburg center is open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday.
